From Sex, Life, & Hannah::Volume 1, Winter Season (Chapter 2: Breaking Up With Bad Habits)

The sun is cracking through the earth as I leave Ireland’s apartment. The cool air feels good on my hot head, and I don’t care how long it’s going to take me to walk back to my house, even in a new pair of heels. I light up the cigarette I stole from the pack I discovered in Ireland’s medicine cabinet.

At the end of the day, I know bad habits must eventually be faced. Something like half a million people die each year from cigarette smoking, and twenty thousand more die from drug overdoses. Ten percent of our population is alcoholic, and forty percent of all marriages end in infidelity.

But sometimes you need more than statistics to kick your fix.
