RULES! Part 19.

117. Do not fly Spirit Airlines. They suck, and will fuck you out of your flight without even a hint of remorse in their eyes. Jet Blue is way better.

118. Do not pop four Extra Strength Tylenol…and some illicit drug, on an empty stomach. You may end up feeling really sick and hurling all over the floor of a restaurant because you didn’t make it to the bathroom.

119. Cabanas are a must.

120. Bottle service is a must, but only if someone else is paying.

121. If you put down $100 at a Blackjack table and lose it in 10 minutes, do not put down a second $100 because you will most definitely lose it in another 10 minutes and definitely not redeem yourself, or show that dealer, or prove something to the casino.

122. If you wonder why you can never seem to get past first base, you need to take a long, hard look at your kissing abilities. They probably suck, as much as Spirit Airlines. Take a lesson. Or two.

123. If you’ve only been dating someone for eight months and the sex has already gone downhill…it’s over. You should definitely not be thinking about marrying them. You should instead go hang out with that hunky hockey player that’s been hitting on you all night. Guilt free.

124. But do not sleep with the promoter.

125. And definitely do not leave your wallet and iPhone in your pockets when pool side. There is a strong likelihood you will have one too many SoCo and waters, and walk into the pool, with all those lifelines still in your pockets, and end up having to dry your money and your cards and your condoms in the sun.  And off the grid, because iPhones are not waterproof. And writing a chapter in your memoir titled “The Payphone Years”.

126. You never know who you will be attracted to. So throw that list away.

127. However, no woman will ever be attracted to back hair and a beer belly. Wax that shit and get on a treadmill.

128. Familiarity is the kiss of death.

129. There are very good reasons for why what happens in Vegas…should always stay in Vegas. And everyone who’s been to Vegas and is over the age of 21 knows those reasons.

May Must Have: High-Low Hems

Posted by on May 10, 2012 in Life and Style | 0 comments

The Odylyne Mini Barbet Dress is one of my favorite spring/summer wardrobe additions. It’s so perfect for just about anything. Brunch, happy hour, shopping, partying.. literally, anything!

Those of you that pop onto my blog every now and then I am sure have noticed that aside from my love for relationship, sex, and book talk, my other two obsessions are music and fashion. And this is something me and Sasha Jones of LAInspiration can definitely bond over.

Here is Sasha’s Must Have for May:

When Dorota asked me to do this month’s Must Have my first thought was, “What have I been wanting lately?” and my mind immediately went to one thing: high-low hems. They are literally everywhere. And I gotta be honest, at first I wasn’t feeling this trend at all. It just seemed weird to me. Either you want a mini skirt or a maxi skirt, how can you combine the two? Well, my question has been answered…in a really awesome way. Now, not only am I seeing high-low hems on skirts, but I’m seeing dresses and tops too and I’m officially in love.

High-low hems are perfect for the girl who wants to show off some skin, but not too much skin, and rock a flowy bohemian look. Flowy? Bohemian? Um, yes please. Here are some high-low pieces I’m currently rocking…and coveting.

The Alamo Mullet Skirt by Our Prince Of Peace is on my current must-have list. The colors and the print? I’m sold.

Ok, this Sleeveless Lace Insert Shirt from Topshop is everything. I love the grungy 90s vibe it gives off, and I can’t help but imagine rocking it with faded black denim, a red flannel wrapped around my waist, and a pair of Doc Martens.

What do you think of the high-low trend? Do you already have some pieces in your closet?

Summer Season Silhouette

Posted by on May 3, 2012 in Book News | 0 comments

So…a lot went down since I posted last Friday. Basically I realized that no amount of yoga is going to help me make my June 1 book release at Book Soup. At first this realization bummed me out, but then a huge amount of stress lifted. I want to give you all the best book possible. I don’t want to rush and then regret not giving myself a few more weeks.  And I want to enjoy my book release, not worry whether the books are going to arrive in time. My assistant is working on setting up a new date, while me and my editor continue through the publishing grind; stay tuned.

In other news, my amazing designer just sent me this almost final of the Sex, Life, & Hannah Summer Season silhouette based on our silhouette contest winner. What do you think?

April Update

Posted by on Apr 27, 2012 in Sex, Life, & Hannah Book Series | 0 comments

Hey guys, life has been a little insane lately, hence my lack of posting.

Me and hubbie just moved our existence from Studio City to Silver Lake, and I just found out from Amazon that I have to have all three books ready for print by May 7 at the latest to make my June 1 book release party at Book Soup, and my client needs me next week. I want to scream, but instead I’m trying to use up my yoga classes at Yoga Shelter to keep calm, focused, and believe that I can do this all.

I’ve been reading Book 3 today, the Sex, Life, & Hannah Summer Season; one last read before print. And I just finished my favorite chapter, Chapter 23 – When Destiny Calls. This chapter is so wrenching and makes me want to cry at the end:

I want to believe in destiny; that everything happens for a reason; that there is some predetermined path you’re supposed to tread; that as much choice as you think you have in who you’re with, what job you have, and whether you’re happy or not, there’s really a greater power that controls your fate and you can’t do anything to change it. I want to believe that all the decisions I’ve made with men so far all happened for one reason, all led me to this, and that as rushed and wrong as this feels in some ways, that Christian is The One.

Anyway, really feeling this today. Destiny. Wondering how it will all turn out; with the books, and the move, and hubbie…

p.s. the pic is of the view from our new place…spoiled.

Hannah Bares All In The Summer Season

HANNAH BARES ALL—THIS TIME ON A BOAT—IN THIRD BOOK, THE SUMMER SEASON

LOS ANGELES, CA, APRIL 19, 2012 – Sex, Life, and Hannah, the juicy woman-on-top book series authored by Dorota Skrzypek, will unveil its third installment at Book Soup in Los Angeles on June 1st. The Summer Season picks up where its predecessors left off, chronicling the exploits of Hannah, a female professional trying desperately to make sense of the L.A. single life. Through broken hearts, broken dreams, and nearly-broken bed frames (yes—there is a lot of sex), Hannah grapples with the modern late-twenty-something’s conundrum: Does the fairytale life exist, and is it worth having?

It seems that Skrzypek’s heroine is not alone in this debate. Cable television is crawling with ladies trapped under this same conundrum—curiously enough also named Hannah. HBO’s new series, Girls, follows newly-graduated protagonist Hannah Horvath as she struggles to support herself in chasing her professional dreams, while learning about love and sex in a cold, technologically-distracted world. Showtime’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl dealt with Hannah Baxter, a college graduate concealing her career choice as a call girl, in a world that advocates more traditional life decisions.

While it may seem like an uncanny coincidence that these women all share a name, it’s not as uncanny that they are all having the same deliberations. Is modern media telling us that the average professional woman is mind-warped over society’s expectations of her?

Sex, Life, and Hannah addresses this question poignantly and humorously, in all forms. An article recently posted to its website blog, entitled “Do Not Be This Girl”, critiques the woman’s typical marriage path with biting candor—and garnered over 12,000 hits as soon as it hit the Internet. Proving that non-traditional courtship can be quite the adventure, the site’s most viewed book excerpt, “Sex in an Airplane Bathroom”, spares no dirty detail of Mile-High-Club induction gone terribly wrong. Sex, Life, and Hannah is acclaimed by audiences as jaw-dropping, frank, and relatable. Writer’s Digest hails it as “an honest, sensitive, and intelligent investigation of the human heart… [with] wit, charm, pathos, and passion.”

April MUST HAVE: Pink

Posted by on Apr 13, 2012 in Life and Style | 0 comments

Deniz is Le Fashion Monster and every time I land on her blog I get an awesome style idea. She has a knack for picking classic pieces and adding just the right amount of splash to create outfits that embody L.A. living.

Here is Deniz’ MUST HAVE for April:

For April, I’m tickled pink.

As a blogger, I love to pick themes for my blog every month. This month, my theme is pink. By incorporating pink into my outfit posts, I really get to explore my comfort and creativity with this color. Being a blogger constantly tests my imagination, and this month, with pink being my theme, one of my must-have items are these pink “Belinda”  heels from Sole Society. These heels are perfect for April! Bold, fun, and versatile!

The reason these Sole Society pink pumps are pure perfection is because they truly put a smile on my face and…I find it to be a challenge to wear them. Good news, I love a challenge! Don’t be afraid to take a risk with shoes, after all, they really can be the ONLY staple in your look. Jeans, a t-shirt ,and a pair of killer heels? That’s all you need.

My question to you Sex, Life and Hannah followers is: how would you wear these “Belinda” heels, and what is your pink  must-have?
